  Activities
Comstock Park Public Schools offer a variety of opportunities for student involvement, beginning at elementary school and expanding as students progress through the grades. Being involved in projects and activities in the school helps contribute to the success of the total school program.

It is our hope that students will become involved in many activities, enhancing their education.

  Art Department

The Comstock Park Art department provides art instruction to students in kindergarten through high school. All elementary students have the opportunity to experience art. Middle school students are given art on a rotational class basis and high school students are able to choose art as an elective subject. The art program has an integrated curriculum which uses standards set by the state of Michigan as it's model. All classes are taught by highly qualified art teachers and our students are provided with basic skills to participate in the arts at levels appropriate to their interest and development. The department annually organizes a district art show which highlights the talents of our many students.

  Music

Music teachers expose students to various genres of music and increase their enthusiasm for singing and playing instruments. Instruction by highly qualified teachers includes everything from singing, playing instruments, reading and notating music, improvising and analyzing music, and understanding music in relation to culture and history.   Kindergarteners receive one 30 minute music class per week using various instruments such as Boomwhackers.  1st-5th graders attend music two times a week for 35 minutes and use more elaborate instruments like recorders and xylophones.  Stage performances take place according to grade level in the following approximate months:

1st, 2nd, and 5th:  December
4th: March
3rd: April
Kindergarten:  May

  Drama

Comstock Park High School offers two theater arts classes for students to elect during their high school career.  Both classes are performance based.  Basic theater is a beginning acting class students can elect without any prior knowledge.  This class focuses on developing a person’s ability to communicate effectively, orally and kinesthetically.  Advanced theater class produces the school play, and participants must have previous experience or pass an audition.
